The only losers are the Miami International Airport and residents of Miami Dade

MIAMI OCTOBER 21, 2015, nhr.com— The fact that the resolution banning bags wrapped in low quality plastic into Miami International Airport, doesn’t mean that Miami-Dade Commissioners have done well.

On the contrary, their votes to uphold Giménez’s veto opens a Pandora’s box, which would create real competition that may threaten the 9.8 million dollars that SafeWrap pays.

With the attitude of the Mayor Carlos Giménez and Commissioners who did not support the resolution, less and less bags will be wrapped in Miami International Airport and the County is set to lose millions of dollars which could be used to pay the huge debt of $ 5.6 billion owed to investors.

New wrapping “entrepreneurs” are sure to go out and buy a machine and setup shop on street corners now that they know that the business is unregulated, and have the support of Giménez, Gonzalez and Commissioners Cava, Sosa, Barreiro, Heyman and Monestime  to “assist travelers to avoid paying the cost at the airport”

It would be great if these commissioners, sponsor a resolution to help the thousands of passengers who are being abused by the airlines that charge $ 25 to $ 30 to check in a bag and even higher if your bag is overweight.

Perhaps unintentionally, the same commissioners have done damage to MIA, as the possibility of reducing  SafeWrap’s monthly commitment would directly impact airlines and resulting in increased landing fees, a charge with ultimately will be passed onto the consumer.

The only loser in this matter has been Miami International Airport and eventually residents of Miami-Dade who will ultimately pick up the tab in one way or another.
